We are a new troop, and so everything seems to be a whirlwind of activity. The meeting tonight wasn't as well planned as the Cub Master would have liked because we had so much to do, but I think she underestimates herself a bit. Lois is really a wonderful person, and I think she did a great job! She has so many ideas, and she is great with the kids too! She is amazingly patient with all of them. She was so upset that she didn't have everything lined out the way she felt the meeting should be, but even with all of the extra activities and preparations for the Parade and the popcorn sales this coming Saturday she was able to maintain her sense of humor throughout the whole meeting. I had great fun reading to all of the boys in the dens. Lois asked me if I had any ideas to keep the boys busy so that they could one by one paint their names and a portion of the float banners for the parade. Well... the only thing I could think of to keep them interested was to read the story of Mowgli and Akela that is in the Wolf Den book. They seemed to enjoy it rather well, and I know I did! I think this experience will be challenging as well as fun. It's a great task that I'm undertaking to be a Leader for the Boy Scouts. What a gift to me this is! I'm overjoyed at the opportunity to help the boys become upstanding citizens who are trustworthy and helpful to the community in which they live. It will be challenging to help them to learn and grow as individuals. I just hope that I'm worthy, and able to uphold the ideals of Scouting for them and not let them down. Wouldn't it be awesome to have a vacation trip to see the whole solar system close up? I mean can you imagine? Just wandering on the surface of mars, or seeing the great spot on Jupiter? What a trip that would be! I should think that it would be amazing to see!
And just think... of all these beautiful and wondrous planets, this one that we live on... this miniscule little planet... is teeming with life so diverse and plentiful that by comparison to the others it seems a miracle. Doesn't it lift your spirits and fill your heart with joy at the beauty of life and our existence? And what could be better?
There is so much here to explore and learn that we haven't figured it all out yet, and still there is so much more out there that fills this universe that we haven't seen and experienced. Just the thought of it makes me impatient with our limitations. I eagerly, and impatiently, await the days when I can fill my existence with the knowledge, experience, and joys of the intricate wonder of the whole of the universe.
Ok, so it's not likely that space travel like that will happen in my lifetime. But I can dream can't I? Posted on Thursday, September 11 2003 at 02:07:06 PM by TreeSprite

10:32:43 AM Hi, I'm up now... sort of... I'm moving around but I'm still sleepy. I think maybe I slept too long. I'm ill, my throat is sore, and I've a fever. As a result I don't feel like talking or saying much so I think this is the end of my entry for today. 03:06:05 PM I've got some new music. I was just randomly surfing amazon.com when I saw that they have some free downloads. Has anyone ever heard of Magic Sound Fabric? No? I hadn't either. Well, I had a listen to about a 30 second sound clip or two and decided I'd download their songs. If you like Synthesizer music, you'll like them. You can download their tracks from this page: Magic Sound Fabric at a Glance I took the time to download all of the titles. Having done so I can say that I like "Astro Dream Stream" and "Levitation Groove" the best. However, I might add that all of them are good. 09:52:07 PM What an exciting day! We all had a great time at the festivities. We sold some popcorn as well as a bunch of pizza cards and a few more boys were added to the troop. The boys all enjoyed riding on the parade float & passing out candy. They were even more excited when our float won the best youth float in the parade!
