Ooooooo... poetry!
07:27:07 AM
I worked at this one quite a bit. I was looking at the "Synonyms, Homonyms, Antonyms & Sometimes Rhymes" topic, and TwilightCat's posting of the word Snail gave me this mental picture of Rex Harrison standing next to the Great Sea Snail in the movie "Dr. Doolittle". After that I got this wondering of what it must have been like to be the Great Sea Snail. I really wanted to get a poem out of this that would give the reader a sense of being there... I wanted to invoke some mental imagery. I think I may have succeeded in that task. Here, have a look: | Stormy waves crashing on sand covered shores;
filling the air with roaring evidence of it's awesome power.
Ever reaching towards the unreachable horizon;
beckoning those who dare match it's quest.
Astonishing wonder, the womb of this world;
hiding plentiful mysteries of life in it's depths. |
