Happy Birthday to Me! My bubby called me! *giggle*

02:41:11 PM
My brother called me today, and asked me what I was doing for my birthday. I said, "The usual, you know... Nothing. Why?" He explained to me that I was not doing nothing. He commanded that I come to his house on Friday evening after the kids get off of school. He said I am to bring them packed and ready to stay the weekend. Then he told me that I also needed to pick out a movie to go and see over at Showplace Cinemas. I said, "Well that sounds like a good idea, but why Showplace specifically?" He replied in that half bored boy-are-you-a-dumb-sister sort of voice that he has, "Because that is where the gift card is for!" He then asked me if I'd ever eaten at Logan's Roadhouse. I said, "No, haven't had the time or the money." He says, "Well, you are going to this weekend. I bought you a gift card. There's enough on it for you and Garrel to have a good dinner."

Talk about a surprise! Here I was just happy that he'd called me to say Happy Birthday, and here he tells me he's going to take the kids, and pay for my movie and my birthday dinner! I squealed with delight, and then proceeded to tell him how much I loved him, and thanked him a bunch of times. His reply? "Yeah, yeah, whatever. Just bring the kids in time enough so you get a decent seat for dinner before the movie."

LOL! What do you want to bet he was grinning from ear to ear?

My brother gave me the best birthday present ever!

I had a wonderful time! It was such a nice change to have my husband all to myself for an evening! It's such a rare treat for us, and the prospect of spending time together doing something fun didn't compare to the actuality.

Logan's Road House is wonderful! Steak is the most wonderful meal don't you think? Especially when someone else cooks it for you. =) It's even better when the cook himself comes out to ensure that your steak is to your liking.

The movie was even better than the food, if you can believe that! I'll be purchasing the DVD when it comes out. We watched "The Last Samurai" starring Tom Cruise, and boy was it good! It was so good, I tried to convince the hubby to sneak in to the next showing with me so we could see it again.

He pointed out of the window of the theatre for an answer. I was just thinking, "He's such a fuddy duddy!" when I realized that he was pointing at the heavy layer of snowfall outside. I agreed that we should head home, and forego the bit of last minute Christmas shopping I had planned on doing when I saw all the snow.

I was glad we had too when we got started on the trip home. There were no less than four wrecked cars along the way, and the way was certainly slow going. We were only driving at about 35 miles per hour the whole way home because the snow was coming down that quickly. The drive home is normally only a 45 minute trip, and it took us an hour and a half. We made it safely though, and we both breathed a sigh of relief when we pulled into the driveway.
